Addiction Recovery Treatment

Addiction may be a complex and chronic disease but it’s one that can be treated with effective recovery treatment. Some treatment options address addiction directly and provide coping mechanisms to help you deal with cravings and triggers without relapsing. In many cases, treatments are centered on helping you form relapse prevention strategies with which you can safeguard your sobriety. Other treatment can be focused on underlying issues that may contribute to or worsen a substance use disorderAddiction treatment can also be split into two other categories: evidence-based treatments and alternative therapiesTreatment plans should be grounded in evidence-based studies, but there may a time and a place for alternative treatments in certain situations.

Addiction Counselling

Though the addiction epidemic becomes direr every year, countless people get the help they need and achieve lasting sobriety. Addiction Counselling is an important role in most of the recovery programmes such as addictive disordersmental health and behaviour disorders. This works by providing a confidential and safe surrounding where the addicts/affected person can share their experience which they went through. It usually takes in form of therapy between the addicts and the counsellor or therapist. It also takes place in a group where a group of recovering addicts will meet with one or more counsellor. This Addiction Counselling helps them to regain their strength, relearning old skills, or finding new and different ways of doing things.

Addictive Disorders

Substance abuse and dependence are the common disorders that come to our mind when we hear about the addictive disorder. This addictive disorder alters the brain’s ability to send and receive chemicals called neurotransmitter. The abnormal behaviour of a person can be seen when they are affected by mental illness. People with addictive disorders may be aware of their problems but they are unable to stop it though they want to end it. This affects them mentally which leads to preventable illnesses and premature death. These disorders can be treated if it is under proper observation and medical treatment.

Traditional Approaches to Addiction

Traditional Approaches for Addiction like YogaMeditation commonly called mindfulness therapy which is popular recovery technique that is often used to promote self-awareness. Many individuals who recover from addiction feels they have lost in touch with their bodies and mind because addiction serves to numb and disconnect the body and mind. Yoga essentially a unification of body, mind, and spirit which makes it so powerful. Traditional approaches like Yoga, Ayurveda and natural therapy are being used to treat the individuals suffering from addiction and help them to prevent relapse. Reduce withdrawal symptoms and drug craving. Many studies have observed the effect of yoga and meditation on the fight-or-flight response which may explain why it has been linked to improved immunity. The scientific studies have provided evidence that these approaches reduce stress by modulation of the stress response. Yoga act on this system by regulating and balancing some of the stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline. the practice of yoga may help to balance some parts of the brain and body that are impacted by drug abuse in a natural way.

Drug Addiction

Drug addiction is a complex neurobiological disease that affects a person's brain and behaviour and leads to an inability to control the use of a legal or illegal drug or medication. It is considered as a brain disease because excessive use of drug changes the brain by increasing the dopamine secretion and it induces the brain signals. Without proper treatment, these brain changes can affect the lives.

The proper medication for addiction helps the process easier by easing the cravings and side effects. It can also be treated with inpatient treatment plus a comprehensive aftercare program where drug addicts can find lasting relief from the ravages of chemical dependency, regardless of how long they’ve been addicted.

Drug Abuse

Drug abuse refers to the illegal and abusive use of substances or drugAlcohol is the most commonly used legal drug where most of the individuals get addicted and abused to it. This drug addiction induces the brain to consume excessive regular pills which affect the brain and changes the structure of the brain. This uncontrollable use of drugs triggers the limbic system to respond with intense feelings of pleasure. This brain command produces a deep-seated desire to continue using of the drug. Alcohol and drug addiction therapy can help you re-write the effects of drugs in your brain, learn to cope with negative feelings, and learn to avoid and deal with cravings.

Substance Addiction

Substance Addiction problems are very complex medical problems. The Substance like pills and other common drugs which are used abusively causes severe effects on brain and addictive substances alter the brain’s ability to send and receive chemicals called neurotransmitters, which cause pleasure, meaning the drug user relies on the drug, rather than his or her natural brain chemicals, for feelings of pleasure. Anxiety and depression are the other mental health condition which may play a role when a person is addicted to the substance. The brain gets addicted to the over-consumption of drug and when people stop consuming the substance, they suffer withdrawal symptoms that can include shivering, severe headaches and sometimes can even be life-threatening. Mental and psychological problems also occur during drug withdrawal. The proper recovery process should be carried out in order to relief from the substance addiction.

 Addiction Pharmacology

Addiction Pharmacology makes the recovery process easier by easing the side effects and cravings associated with withdrawal. The pharmacology of most addictive substances is being studied extensively, not just for acute effects but also the mechanisms that lead to drug seeking and addiction. Some people continue to take medicine which leads to side effects and causes addiction. When the drugs are consumed more these drugs can have serious side effects, including physical dependence and tolerance. Ironically, the opiate addiction is treated having some addictive properties Many pharmacological agents began to explore the efficacy of existing alcohol treatments, and several medications are currently being used in alcohol rehabilitation and more new medications to help treat alcoholism have been developed. Science has produced a new anti-addiction IM medication for the treatment of alcohol dependence which is called VivitrolTM, injected version of naltrexone which is also recently approved by FDA, thereby drastically reducing or completely stopping alcohol use for alcoholics receiving the medication and attending active treatment programs.

 Dual Diagnosis

Dual Diagnosis typically refers to an individual person with a mental disorder, co-occurring developmental disability and substance abuse disorder. People suffering from a mental health illness may turn to alcohol or alternative drugs to come out of that depression. The fields of mental health and drug use recovery have different cultures where integrated care can be challenging. One of the things that make dual diagnoses so difficult to treat is that it is hard to know where certain symptoms are coming from an integrated intervention the best treatment for dual diagnosis where a person receives care for both their diagnosed mental illness. The causes for dual diagnosis is difficult to approach as they can be caused in any way which affects their mental ability and it is difficult to identify as the studies apply differing criteria in defining developmental disabilities and their mental illness.

 Neuro- Toxicology

Neurotoxicity damages the brain and the peripheral nervous system, which is exposure to natural or man-made toxic substances. These toxins affect the neurons and alter the activity of the nervous system. When an individual consumed addictive substance, the body responds to the substance by influencing neurotransmitter that affects the cellular membrane integrity. The treatment approach to neurotoxicity is only by eliminating or reducing the toxic substance by providing therapy to relieve symptoms or by providing support.

 Addiction induced Brain Disease

Addiction is a chronic disease that affects the brain in complex ways that contribute to compulsive and uncontrollable use. Unfortunately, the media’s portrayals of addiction often show characters going through detox and then never having much of an issue with addiction again. You may have to deal with cravings and triggers for years after your last dose. It’s not just a matter of biology, there are a variety of factors that contribute to addiction. During active addiction, your brain has learned to seek drugs to relieve stresspainanxiety, and just to feel good. Even when you know that a drug can be harmful, it’s incredibly difficult to resist. Alcohol and drug addiction therapy can help you re-write the effects of drugs in your brain, learn to cope with negative feelings, and learn to avoid and deal with cravings. Drugs interact with body and brain to alter emotions, behaviours and moods by changing brain chemistry and a person’s perceptions.

 CNS Addictive Disorders

Central Nervous System consists of the brain and spinal cord which is affected by some neurological conditions that are associated with substance use disorders. The CNS gets slow down or speed up by the mind-altering drugs and the drugs also affects the autonomic functions necessary for living, such as body temperature, heart rate, blood pressure and respiration. The brain’s neurotransmitters or chemical messengers get affect by this addictive substance. From a neurological point of view, addictive scatters emerge when a drug changes the way the individual’s cerebrum feels delighted. The addictive drugs anticipate the nerves in the mind by secreting dopamine a joy chemical which affects their CNS normal function.
